Drop-in FAQs
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself and something to take your flowers home in. We provide the harvest buckets, snips, and water. Please also come dressed and prepared for the weather.
Can I pick more than one bucket at a time?
Yes! You may pick more than one bucket at a time, as long as we have enough flowers.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes! You may bring friends and family to pick with you.
Is the farm kid friendly?
Yes! The farm is a great place for kids, as long as they are supervised by an adult.
Can I bring my dog?
Service animals and well behaved/supervised dogs are allowed. Dogs must be on leash and you must clean up after them.
Is there a bathroom?
Yes! We have a bathroom in our floral studio.
What if I've never harvested flowers before?
Not to worry! We'll give you a harvesting tutorial on your first day.
Can I pick whatever I want?
Not quite. Some flowers that are reserved for events are off limits during certain weeks, we will have that information at the farm when you arrive.
EVent u-pick/DIY Faqs
Weddings - can I do a combination of u-pick/DIY and Sunblossom floral design?
Yes! Many wedding parties we work with buy a few items (bouquets, boutonnieres) from us and use DIY/u-pick flowers for other parts of their events.
What’s the difference between DIY and U-Pick?
DIY are buckets that we harvest for you in a certain color scheme. U-Pick you pick yourself.
How long will my flowers last?
When you buy flowers from us, you are getting the freshest flowers possible. Most store bought flowers will have been in coolers and traveled from place to place for days before they are used in an event. Most flowers have a vase life of 5 days or more, so your flowers should last at least that long (if handled properly).
How can I make sure my flowers last?
There are many tips/tricks of the trade for making your u-pick or DIY flowers last. These include: harvesting at cool times of the day, picking “young” flowers, letting flowers “rest” after you harvest them, cutting stems at an angle, storing flowers in cool and dark places, using clean buckets/vases, and using flower food (we do not use or provide flower food but you can buy/make some yourself). Johnny’s Seeds has a good blog post with more information on taking care of cut flowers after they’re harvested.
What flowers are available?
We have compiled an online list of what flowers we have available and when. Please note that this is a very general list; the varieties, flowers, and colors we have vary in availability from season to season.
